Banana-rama

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch. If this is true, then my baby is going to love Taco Bell, Quizno's, Wendy's, Applebee's, and Olive Garden! Oh, and anything potato.
Can't believe I've made it to 21 weeks. Lil Miss is a moving and a kickn'. Sean thinks maybe he might have felt her from the outside the other day. I love feeling her move around!! I got some things in the mail already for baby girl. I love those huge headbands with flowers and bows and ordered some crocheted headbands off ebay. I got them today in 15 different colors!!! I can't wait to get started. I wanted to start today but I'm lacking all motivation and energy. I did manage to make dinner for the first time in a while! I think Sean was surprised!!!

All in a days work

Whew. We've been busy.

Sean went to church this morning but I had zero motivation to get up so I skipped.

Shh.

But I did manage to sweep, dust, finish ALL the laundry, and just pick up and maybe, just maybe, play on the computer a little before Sean got back with lunch :) Afterwards we got started on painting the basement. Here's me before. Cute, huh! LOL! The after picture might include me COVERED in paint!
I did my best to not let Miss Baby Jay get too high while in utero. I took a lot of breaks, don't worry. All is good.

One side of our basement is brick and the other side Sean and his dad sheet rocked a long time ago. So the longest part of our painting escapade was the brick part. There were too many crevices and it took close to 2 1/2 hours to do. The other side flew, especially the 2nd coat. So we now have a nicely painted basement that just needs the floor painted, trim, a storage system put together, the washer and drive moved down and hooked up and the pantry part put together. Oh, and curtains. I'm pretty excited! We've made great progress. Mostly due to Sean and his mom. Sean is painting the floor Tuesday and Thursday I think and then sometime the following week Sean and our neighbor Kevin are going to hook up the washer and dryer. Oh and then we have to put some cabinets in and organize! So we have a lot left but it shouldn't be to much work! I'm just ready for it to be done! This has been a work in progress for close to a year!! And once we finish that we can start moving rooms and start decorating the baby's room! :)

Well I'm EXHAUSTED! So I'm off!!! Peace!

It's a...

GIRL!
Holy moly were Sean and I surprised. At the 16 week ultrasound we thought it was most likely a boy. We weren't totally for sure and knew it was early but for 4 weeks we totally believed we were having a boy. Much to our surprise, God played a little trick on us and well, shocked the hell out of us! :) It took a while for the shock factor to wear off for us to be really really excited, like I am now. The sono tech was a friend of Sean's and we told her we had the sono at 16 weeks but we didn't tell her that we thought it was a boy. So she had her guess but wasn't for sure so she had another girl come in and check. After trying to get lil Miss stubborn to move a bit they got "the" shot and both said girl. You should have seen our faces. I couldn't stop giggling and was in complete shock. Guess there will be 3 princess's in the house now. Sean is just going to LOVE it! :)
It's been fun telling our family and friends who also all "thought" we were having a boy. After the Sono I went up to work and told everyone and there was a bunch of screaming and giggles (mostly on my part, of course). Then we called the moms and I think they were both pretty shocked. I think my dad was a little disappointed because he goes, "Oh, no it's a girl."I then stopped by my SIL's and told her I had a surprise and showed her the sono pic and she was pretty shocked as well. My niece Abi was happy since she said I HAD to have a girl.

By evening the shock factor had started to wear away and so I started shopping! :) I got some crocheted headbands and alligator clips to start making some flower headbands and different bows and such! Ahhh, I'm so excited to play dress up! :) I already told Sean that the one rule is if she is out in public she HAS to have a headband, bow or something in her hair!

That afternoon I had 2 other appts and finally got my tooth finished and the crown placed and then we had the OB appt. I gained 4 lbs but have only gained 5 lbs total, which is awesome! He told us the baby weighs about 10 oz and is about 10-11 inches long with a heartbeat of 136. He did tell me I have a low-lying placenta and will need another sono by my 28th week. Hopefully it moves because from my research I wouldn't be able to have a natural birth, which I really, really wanted. But whatever is safest and best for the MISS Baby Jay! He also put me on pelvic rest, so in the words of Sean, no chicka-chicka-bow-wow for us. No idea if I spelled that right, but you should get the idea.

Other than that, everything is good! :) Here's my weekly bump :) Haven't really noticed a change. Next week I'll put them side by side and see if I can tell a difference!

Oh, and in case you needed to know. My birthday is in 6 days :) Woohoo!

March 25, 2009

Drum roll please...

Tomorrow's the big day! I'm so stinking excited. Today actually went pretty quick for as much as I wanted to get home. I would have thought for sure that it would have taken forever but it didn't! Now I'm ready for bed and to wake up and see my baby! :) I just have a feeling that Baby Jay's "goods" will be covered up, but we can hope!

Nothing else exciting! I've had 2 headaches the past 2 days which has sucked. I went to bed early yesterday (I know, nothing new). And I'll probably be headed to bed here shortly again.

Sean's at Bball tonight, so I'm sure he'll come home with a tore or broken something... it never fails that he gets hurt every time he plays.

He still thinks he's 20.

And since you all love to hear about how "cool" my husband is, get this. I asked Sean if he found me being pregnant, sexy or attractive and this was my answer. "I prefer skinny girls." Yeah, nice huh. I married a sweetheart! Oh, and I had a breakdown today. I found my first set of stretch marks.
Grand. Great. Sweet. Awesomely cool.

And it wasn't just a little breakdown, it was pretty much a major one. Not quite sure I'm ready for that. I can handle gaining weight... but not stretch marks. Oh, and anyone wanna take a guess of how much I gained this past month? I'm guessing 8 lbs b/c I've ate out a TON. I eat constantly. Pretty much 24/7. And it hasn't been healthy either. My baby is going to come out looking like Quizno's, Pizza Hut, Taco Grande, potatoes, green beans, or looking like its been pickled. I've really been THAT big of a pig!

Ok, well I'll reveal (hopefully) tomorrow!! Peace out!

March 23, 2009

Halfway point!

Wahoo!!!! I've made it halfway! It's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago I was miserable!! And now I'm 100% better and enjoying this pregnancy so much! I'm loving feeling Baby Jay move around. I actually got my first kick in the bladder the other day and today I felt it twice. It's an odd feeling, I'll tell ya! :)
Nothing else to exciting... Sean and I are just hanging out and watching out shows. OH, married life! :)

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

Family times...

Does fried fish, fried noodles with potatoes and beans sound good?
It did to me!!!
OMIGOODNESS did I eat a lot of food tonight! Dan's an awesome cook and made one of my favorite meals, ever.

Dan and Sean made a HUGE batch of homemade BBQ today. So huge that we'll be eating it for a year.
Honest.
Good thing I like it!

Anyone wanna guess what I did while they made BBQ sauce and watched KU win?
If you guessed sleep, well, you would be correct. My nieces even out slept me.
Abi was a sick chic and not feeling well until a little before we left. Her princess soup (Spaghetti-o's) must of made her feel better.
Miss Avery was cute as ever but very loud!!! And this girl is a piglet. She's going to surpass Abi in weight in no time! :)

And really, that was my exciting day but I loved it!
A nap, great food, family time, and 2 adorable nieces sounds like a great day to me! :)

Thanks guys for a great day! Love ya!

March 21, 2009

Oh, Spring...

It is *ABSOLUTELY* beautiful outside! Ahh, I love spring!

Today was a busy, busy day for the hubs and I. My wonderful MIL came over and helped him with water locking the walls in our basement, preparing them for paint and my soon-to-be laundry room! It's a work in progress but I'm excited. We'll also have a storage part and another part for canned goods, etc. I'm just ready for more storage and for my kitchen to be un-ghetto. Hopefully within a month (if you and I both cross our fingers and toes REALLY tight) it will be all done!

Hopefully is the keyword. Sean HATES indoor home improvements and when the weather is nice, it makes it even harder for that boy to stay indoors. Next weekend they are hopefully going to put on the paint color and finish the floors. Then I think he's going to start the storage part and then the W/D part!!! YAY! I'm soso ready for a functional kitchen!

And what did I do today? Well, I'm glad you asked...

Remember my post on cleaning the hallway closet.
Yeah.
Well.
I didn't get to it that day but I did today. And it looks spectacular!
Before:
After:

I then proceeded to my side of the closet where I reorganized it in sections and got rid of some old stuff and stuff I won't be wearing for a while. Stuff I hope to fit into in about 8 months! I also packed away my winter attire. This girl has a lot of clothes.

I then came upstairs and cleaned out the closet in my craft room. It was full of Sean's hunting stuff and odds and ends so that got hulled out and reorganized with just MY stuff. I have my gift wrapping items and photography items in there. Oh, and some fabric stuff. I LOVE ORGANIZING!

I also got out this.

It's my bassinet from when I was a baby and its beautiful!!! I also had that in my to do list in a previous post.
Oops.
I can't find the mattress pad but hopefully with more cleaning and organizing I'll find it. And in 2 weeks I am getting the fabric for the bedding I'm going to sew for it!

Again, I LOVE ORGANIZING.

I also took pictures of things to put on Nex-tech to get rid of, but the website is being a pain when I upload pics so I quit trying for a little bit.

After Sean was done working downstairs he went outside to pick up dog poop. Lovely, huh? He was super excited for me to take his picture doing it too! :)

All in all, it was a great day. I'm feeling awesome, btw. Haven't had a headache for a while and haven't gotten sick! I feel like my old self and that my friend, is GREAT!

Well, I think Sean and I are going to eat and relax! Tomorrow the Sean and Dan (my bil) are making homemade BBQ sauce and then I think we are eating at their house. So that means I get some time with the girls! I'm hoping it's nice out - I think a trip to the park is in order!!!

Fluffy Mail

Take a looksie at what I got :)

Fluffy butts! They are Bum Genius pockets and I love em'. I got them from a friend of a friend that tried cloth but wasn't up to it. So I offered to take it off her hands. They are so cute!!! They should work either way, boy or girl. I got 13 of them and they are adjustable to fit 7-35 lbs. So they should last until potty training! I'll need about 15 more and I should be covered!!
I, of course, had to try it out on Miss Reese.
She wasn't a fan.

But her butt looks cute.

Well, that's it folks. I'm off to bed!

March 17, 2009

Itchin' to...

Shop my heart out. I'm very ready to be reassured what the sex of the baby is so I can go crazy :) And you can bet I will. Sean won't be all that thrilled about spending money but if you know me well, you know this gal loves to spend :) We've got a few things here and there but are waiting for our U/S. Given how stubborn Sean is I wouldn't be surprised if Baby Jay doesn't want to show its goods but I'm hoping. I'm confident in what Miss Kayla thought, but eager to see this baby again!

Nothing else to exciting. I think I *might* be getting a cold. Planning on getting the humidifier out, maybe that'll make me feel a little better. I hate not being able to breathe. :)
Pray for me being able to breathe again soon!

Oh, today I had a comment from a stranger about expecting. It kind of caught me off guard b/c I still feel like a huge cow with a nice fat roll in the middle. It doesn't technically look like a fat roll, that's just how I feel whenever I bend over, tie my shoes, etc. Oh, and my ankles swelled up pretty good today. Nice. A fat cow with cankles. Attractive, huh? I'm just kidding (a little) about the fat cow part. I'm just not used to being this big. It's growing on me, literally.

Anyways, I worked my booty off today. Nearly 100 patients today so I'm off to bed! Peace.

Oh, and DUH! Happy St. Pat's day! :)

March 16, 2009

Mango, anyone?

Almost half way!!! Yippee. And I'll probably jinx myself again but I've gone a WHOLE WEEK and I'm doing good. Just tired and sometimes maybe, a tad bit cranky. Nothing my knight in shining armor can't handle :)

Here's the stats...

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

And the belly pic...
I don't see much difference when I compare 16 weeks and 19 weeks. Which is fine with me. I'm already preparing myself to hear I gained 10 lbs at my next appt. I've been eating EVERYTHING in front of my face. Grand.

Sean and I had a VERY busy weekend. We were constantly on the go! It was fun, just way too quick. My parents joined a church this weekend and so my bro, his fiance, Sean and I all headed to GB to be there for them. Aren't they cute :)

And because she's adorable... it's Miss Reese.

I'd post the one of Sean and I but I feel like a HUGE cow. And I'm pasty, gross white and not all that fond of the picture. Anyways, after church I took some engagement pics for Kev and Kelci. We did them downtown in GB and got some pretty cute ones. Oh, I love taking pictures. I also have an engagement session Wednesday. I think we are taking them in a wheat field. This will be a new one for me. I'm excited to do something new! Here's one of my fav's of the cute couple!
Sunday afternoon we got to spend in the wonderful town of Russell for Sean's grandpa's 80th birthday celebration. The cake was awesome!!! Oh, and it was great seeing family, too! :)

After we got home, I took a 3 hour nap while Sean went and played golf. Then I begged for fettuccine from Pizza Hut and my knight stepped up and got it for me! It was DELICIOUS!

Well that's it my friends... I'm off to snuggle and then to bed!! :)

March 14, 2009

It's just a small town..

If you put the heading from my last post and the heading from this post together, could ya guess what song I've been listening to a lot of recently? It's White Horses by Taylor Swift. You should download it. I'm in love.
It's the weekend (and 8:30 am btw) and here is the GP.
Organize the hallway closet of junk. I'll take before and after's. And I can't wait to use my label maker. Nerdy, yes.
Take pictures of things to put on Nex-tech. We have some stuff sitting around we need to get rid of. ASAP.
Get out the bassinet and take measurements. (Still never got around to this from the other night.)
Hopefully our friends Matty and Sara stop by. Their anniversary is tomorrow and we have a card for them. Plus we haven't seen them in a LONG time. Ok, like early February but it seems like a long time.
Head towards the great Great Bend.
Head towards our friends house for some AWESOME food. My mouth has been watering since Wednesday when she told me the menu.
Tomorrow my parents are joining a church and we are headed to support them for that, then I'm taking a few pics for my brother and SIL's save-the-dates.
Then finally we are going to head towards the big town of Russell and celebrate Sean's Grandpa Eugene and his twin Earlin's 80th birthday. Which means cake my friends. MMMmmm!
Now that's a weekend round-up. While it'll be nice to be gone and see everyone, I'll be thinking about everything that needs to be done around the house and preparation for Baby Jay.
OH. OH. OH. My birthday is in 20 days :) Just in case you were wondering! :)

March 13, 2009

This ain't Hollywood...

I just finished watching my fav... reality TV. Love me some reality TV. Sean on the other hand hates it. With a passion. If he was single, the TV would be on the History channel 21/7. The other 3/7 would be the time he plays Xbox. Listen kids, my husband is cool. Very cool.

Update on our princess. Miss Reese survived the anal gland popping and is expected to make a full recovery. Starting with the nap we just took for 4 hours. Hmmm... love me some naps as well. I told Miss Becca I'd sleep a hour for her, so there ya go my friend.

Back to Reese. I think she knew something was up when I let her get in the car with my this morning. She actually SAT in the car and didn't act hyper, which is very UN-Reesie like. She was ok until we got to the door of the vets then she high-tailed it the other direction. Whenever I left her there she whimpered which of course broke my heart and within minutes of getting in my Durango, I started bawling. Oh dear me. I'm blaming it on the hormones. (Or the fact I cry every time I leave her at the vets.) Becca went with me to the vet to pick her up since her puppy is in there as well. I wonder if Tucker and Reese bonded, Becca :) As soon as we got home this afternoon she was out. And so was I.

Sean and I are off to watch Friday Night Lights. The BEST show.EVER. You should tune in. You'll be hooked. And Riggins is yummy hotness. If anything tune in for him. Delicious.

Big plans for this weekend. I'm so excited b/c there's gonna be lots of family time and seeing some friends we haven't seen in a while. I'll post tomorrow. FNL starts NOW!

March 12, 2009

Wowza kids...

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

It's been a stinking long time since I've been on here. Today is finally a good day. 1. No headache 2. No puking 3. I'm awake past 7.

So I'm trying to get a few things done. I'm getting ready to dig the bassinet out of the closet and take measurements so I can sew the bedding. It's the same bassinet I was in as a baby. We'll be keeping it in our bedroom until Baby Jay is big enough for the crib. I think I'm going with greens/browns for the bedding since our new bedroom is a sage color. I'm ready to start making baby things. 2 more weeks and we should *hopefully* know for sure what we are having. I hope.
Then I can tell the world!!!!

Tomorrow's my half day at work and THANK GOD! I'm excited for the afternoon off. Not sure what I'll do but I'm sensing a good ol' 4 hour nap :) Heaven.

Well that's it... I'm going to go snuggle with my tired, grumpy husband on the couch after I get the bassinet out!! Peace.

Knock on wood and Anal glands

Bet that title got your attention, huh?

Let's start with the knock on wood.

Everyone please take a second to knock on wood for me because...

It's been TWO days and I'm feeling great. Almost like my regular self. Very very mild headaches, no puking, minimal gagging and staying awake past 6:30. High five to me!

I'm really hoping I don't jinx myself.

Now for the anal gland part.

My little princess Miss Reese is having problems, eh, back there. She's been wiping her butt on the carpet and won't let us scratch her butt. So I did a quick google on it. (Love google)

The reason could be intestinal parasites or anal glands that need popped.

GROSS.

I love me some Reese but I'm not popping any anal glands. And you can betcha that Sean won't be either.

I even found a youtube video on instructions to do it, but I couldn't bring myself to watch it.

Anyways, I called the vet and made her an appointment for next Friday. Poor girl. I already feel bad for her. Who in the world actually wants their butt played with?
Not me!
(And yes, I know. There are sick, strange, gross people out there that would enjoy it. I try not to think about that though!)

So that's the exciting news in the Rodger household.

Oh, one more thing.

My wonderful, stubborn, know-it-all of a husband got hurt at basketball last night. He asks his beautiful, wonderful, adorable, nurse of a wife what to do to fix it.
I give him different things to try to make it feel better and guess what he tried...
NOTHING.
When will boys learn? Oh brother.

He hurt his arm muscle/shoulder possiblly and so I mention these ideas.
1. Go to the doctor and get it looked at
2. Stay home from work and rest it
3. Put ice on it and alternate with heat.

So tonight, since he knows everything, he doesn't do anything about it and complains how bad it hurts. The he proceeds to tell me he thinks he's going to go play with his new putter, "Because it won't hurt my arm, since it's all in the wrists."
RETARDED.
I love my husband to death, but he may not be the smartest person at times.

And for the record, he didn't go. Instead he's depressed on the couch playing xbox WITHOUT ice on his shoulder.
Man, I love him.

March 2, 2009

O.M.G

To put it nicely, today has been hell. It started yesterday with a headache that turned into a sleepless night with a migraine that made me sicker than I've EVER been. Not really sure why this keeps happening to me, but it is starting to get a bit old. I love how everyone keeps telling me it's going to get better. Well... I'm still waiting :)

The kicker was visual aura's and that's when I knew I needed sleep. I had one of these in college and the only thing I could do was stay still and hide in a dark place. It's gotten a little better this evening after a 4 hour nap and ice on and off. I'm really hoping to get rid of it before tomorrow since I have to go to Smith Center for clinic.

The plus of the day is I wanted pizza and french fries with cheese and Sean made it for me :) Aww to him!

The other plus is that I'm 17 weeks today. 3 more weeks and I'm half done. Maybe, just maybe, I'll be done with all this bull hockey. Maybe.
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers have one of a kind fingerprints.

March 1, 2009

Blah

Today has been exactly that. Blah.

Anyways, I'm posting because I totally forgot to blog about our doc appointment. The heartbeat was 136, nice and strong. I'm measuring right on and we got to schedule our 20 week US. March 26th is the date. Other than that, it was a quick appointment.

Nothing else to exciting around here. Sean started on the basement and hopefully he'll be continuing next weekend. He made some good progress.

Today's been a rough day. I've had a headache since I woke up and haven't gotten it to go away. Yet. Even a nice 2 1/2 hour nap didn't work.

Nothing else to post... tomorrow is a new fruit b/c we'll be 17 weeks:) Stay tuned...
