A night out

The night before Cohen's birthday party and Sean's mud run, good friends of ours were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary so we had a little night out on the town. Except the town is Victoria and there really isn't anything to do! But receptions are fun! :) The downside - open bar. The big downside - open bar plus by baby boys first birthday party the next day.

Let's just say that I don't recall anything from here on! Oi vey, but it was fun - from what I'm told! :)

When I drink - I'm totally the life of the party! P.s. I make an awesome Indian.
And I hit a wall around midnight and good ol' Sean got to pretty much carry me home from there! :) He just LOVES to take care of me when I've drank a few to many! :)

The next morning was ROUGH. Really rough.  But I managed. We had Sean's mud run in the morning and my parents met us there with the kiddos.  Kevin, Kelci and Ben also met us there as Kevin was running it too.  Sean's friend from high school friend, Carrie, was also there as she ran with the boys!

And about a second later this is where Sean slid in the mud and tore his ACL!
There goes Kevin - See Sean in the mud? This is just prior to him then getting trampled! Poor guy!

After getting quickly checked out by the EMS we made it to the finish to watch Kevin finish as Sean sat by the car! Quite the race for Sean! He now says his mud run races are over!!

My Birthday!

Yup, this lucky lady is officially 27! And I have no shame in getting older, I honestly love birthdays. Cake, presents, birthday love, cards, time with family... love it all! Unfortunately, this birthday was spent sick. Super sick.

I started feeling yucky on my drive home from Wichita on Friday. By Saturday morning, I managed to clean up and hang out with the fam but wasn't feeling so hot at all. We did go out to eat at Gella's for supper which was yummy. Would have been more fun if I could have enjoyed a lemon ale or two! :)

By Sunday (my birthday) it was full on sickness. I.felt.like.death. We were planning on having a bbq with my and Sean's family but that didn't happen as I didn't feel like spreading my sickness. Your welcome, family. However, my parents had to come up to Hays anyways for some stuff so they stopped by and ate supper with us and entertained Lyla. A happy birthday tune and some cake later, and I was in bed! Happy Birthday to me, huh? :)

My cake! This is actually the first time Sean got me cake that I enjoyed. Every year he gets something I don't like (not on purpose, I don't think :) ). The first year he got a chocolate cake with chocolate icing with chocolate topping. Sound good? Yeah, maybe if I like chocolate! :) The following year he got me a yellow cake with butter cream icing. Not a huge fan of yellow cake or butter cream icing. But this year he did good. White cake with whipped icing. My fav! And decorated in pink was a plus! :)I so don't look great in this picture but I had to have a picture with my girl on my birthday. Swollen face and red nose - thank you sinus infection.
Daddy and Ly got a much cuter picture! Love my two lovies!

And that wraps up birthday 2011! Hopefully next years I won't be sick! :)

Thanks to everyone for the phone calls, cards, texts and facebook messages!

Being a grownup

Sometimes being a grownup really isn't fun. Bills, life decisions, jobs, etc = not fun. Today I had to be a grownup in a different way. I had to be practical instead of dreaming.

We were supposed to go to KC for my birthday. Yup, 27 years old on Sunday. But Miss Lyla is getting over a cough (and doing oh-so much better) and we have a lot of trips coming up so it wasn't practical to drive almost 5 hours away (hello, high gas prices), paying for hotels and then oh my the shopping I would be doing, plus activities, eating out, etc. Hays, KS has nothing so whenever I get to a bigger city I am in hog heaven and may go a bit crazy. Or a lotta crazy. Depends who you ask.

I'll also be making a trip to Wichita, hopefully here in the near future to meet my niece or nephew and then next weekend we are in Salina/Abilene for the weekend while Sean runs his 10K and then we get to hang out with some of my favorite people! Oh, and there will be shopping to be had. Get ready Kayla :)!

So, KC wasn't meant to be. (But I hope it is sometime...I need a getaway place where there are actually things to do!) I planned and researched and found a few new things to do and things for Lyla to experience. We were going to go to a children's farm and a water park. I'm itching to go swimming (hurry lake time). So I'm sad :(. I was really, really looking to some quality family time doing something we don't always get to do. I love my sweet family!

Pity party, anyone?

So, this is big for me people. I could have made this work, but I was responsible (gasp) and thought about everyone else in the picture and not just what I wanted. Even though I'm the birthday girl. However, Sean now tells me that I no longer get birthday weeks or weekends and that I'm not longer a birthday princess....gah. He obviously doesn't know much, does he?!? :)
