Learning

It is so crazy to me that I have a baby that pulls up! Considering Lyla was close to 13 months before she pulled up (I think), I thought we had a while before Cohen would. Instead, he's feeling over eager. Since last Saturday, when he pulled up for the first time, he has done it over and over and over again! And now he does it so quick and easy! But in the process, he's figuring out what he can and can not do!

Pulling up...
and falling over! ;)
And because she's cute! ;) Who doesn't wear their sunglasses upside down with water socks? She totally rocks this look! ;)

Lately

This little boy is ALL over the place now.  He had been pulling up on us for a few weeks, but last Saturday, he pulled up on the couch for the first time.  Now, he pulls up on everything he can get his hands on! Oi vey! His problem is he still can't figure out how to get down!

What, me? I'm not crawling all over the dishwasher! :)

See...anything he can find. We also keep the dog bowl and food bowl right where he is, and if I forget to pick it up...he's all over that! He's a fast little boy!
If he would have been a girl...
Playing together in his room!  I just love them!
He was crawling all over the room and crawled in the basket and got stuck!
Monday and Tuesday it was super warm for April - in the 90's so we got to play in the water!
 Oh, I love her!

Lyla wanted to sit in it!

Piper girl is doing good. Potty training a puppy is a pain! I'd much rather potty train Lyla all over again!
Lyla and Cohen are headed to their Granna and Pops for the weekend! I have a full weekend of session and Sean has a few projects to tackle this weekend, so the kids are being shipped off! :) We are also going out on a date together to a concert benefit in Hays! I couldn't remember our last true date, so I'm looking forward to it!
Also, last Saturday I found out that I had won a wooden swing set from a raffle so we are hoping to get that this weekend and surprise Lyla whenever she gets home. And... we got furniture this week! Our house is beginning to look like a home!! :) I just ordered another chair and lamp last night! We still have a lot to do, but we are making progress!

Cohen ::8 months::

How is it that I have an 8 month old? Time has FLOWN.
Mr. Cohen - you are so much fun! You have the prettiest eyes and the best little smile. As long as you have someone's attention, you are the happiest little boy! Other than that, you can be a bit dramatic! :) We still love you, though, sweet boy!

 - You weigh about 14.5 lbs.  You are still our little peanut!
- You wear some 0-3 stuff, especially in pants and some 3-6 months though most of it is big.  I actually just put some newborn shorts on you the other day and they fit you perfect! I have put you in a few 6-9 month things for summer, and while they are big, they work.
- You wear a size 2 shoe, though shoes are hard to put on you because you love to wrinkle your toes.
-You wear a size 2 diaper.
- You still nurse frequently, around every 2 1/2 hours or so. If we can keep you entertained long enough, sometimes you'll go around 4 hours.
- You take about 3 naps a day. One in the morning for around an hour or 1 1/2 hours and then an afternoon nap for around 1-2 hours and a small evening nap, normally around 1/2 hour.
- You sleep around 11 hours at night. You normally go to sleep around 8:30 and sleep until 7:30 ish.

 - You are a mover.  You are still army crawling but get up on your hands and knees and love to rock.  You may crawl for just a little bit, but you know it is much faster to army crawl.
- You are pulling up on everything you can now.  On Saturday, you pulled up on the couch for the first time.  And now anything you can climb on, you are all for trying!
- No babbling out of you yet.  I'm still non-patiently waiting for a mama sound. I'll even take a dada sound! :)

 - You are not a huge fan of food.  You LOVE fruits but that is about it!  In between bites of fruit we can squeeze in a veggie but you make a yucky face and try to rub your hands on your mouth to get it out! You eat bananas, applesauce, peaches, pears, oranges, yogurt, sweet potato, green beans, squash, carrots, refried beans.  You could eat fruit and yogurt all day! Not so much for the other stuff!
- You have figured out your pincher grasp quite yet, but you are working on it. You still figure out a way to get the puffs in your mouth! :)
 - You are "kinda" clapping. You do this arm thing whenever we clap, which makes me believe you are imitating us!
- You love to give gummy kisses but most end with you smacking our faces with your hands.
- You have a total of 6 teeth, I believe. I haven't looked for a while, but you have been chewing on your fingers quite a bit.
 - Personality wise, you love to be held, talked to, flirted with, etc.  You are a ham!  You also LOVE your momma. If you think I am going to set you down, you squeeze my neck and grab on to my shirt and won't let go!
- If we are not doing any of the above, you are most likely whining.  You want someone to be paying attention to you all the time.  You seem to get bored easily!
- You aren't having to many issues with your skin anymore, which is nice.

 Things you love:
-Bath time
- Your sister
- Being outside
- Going for walks
- Blocks
- Being held
-Nursing

Happy 8 months, sweet boy! We love you!

Our family is growing!

 Meet Miss Piper LaRue

Isn't she adorable?!?! She joined our family last Sunday. She is a Shih Tzu and is 8 weeks old (as of yesterday). Her birthday is February 24th! We are kinda in love around here. Mostly Lyla...she ADORES Piper and checks on her all the time. She's been a bit sad I think lately since leaving her brothers. She spends 75% of the night crying which has led to us putting her box in the garage so we can get some sleep. It is definitely like having a newborn again, except I never put Cohen in the garage! ;)

She's also not doing so hot on the whole potty training business. Yesterday we spent 2 hours in the afternoon outside and the minute we came inside she decided to pee. Great, huh!

I named her Piper because that was one of the girl names that I loved but knew we would never use. It doesn't sound good with our last name, so I thought it would make a cute pet name.  I had always said whenever we got a new puppy, her name would be Piper...so here she is! ;)

 Oh, she's so cute!

Lyla thought Piper might like to go for a bounce.
She LOVES to hold her! :)

Ignore how blah I look in this picture. I'm in need of a tan and longer hair. For the record, I still don't like my hair short.
Cohen is so-so with her. He loves to grab her but that's about it.
She is a loved little puppy!
So far, Piper has been to Dr. Lyla for shots, played dress up, and been carried around in bags! ;) I think Lyla has a new bff!

Eisenhower Race 2012

This past weekend Sean and I along with my brother, Kevin, Ty, Kayla, and Sonya all ran in the Eisenhower race.  Sean and Kevin ran the 1/2 marathon, Ty ran the 10K and us girls ran the 5K!
Sonya finished 12th out of 75 and finished 3rd out of her age group.
Kayla finished 13th out of 75 and finished 3rd out of her age group.
I finished 55th out of 75 and 10th out of my age group.
Ty finished 31st out of 46 and 6th out of his age group.
Sean finished 62th out of 153th and 14th out of his age group!

Here's a story about the race.  So I totally did not train near enough for the race, or actually at all. So I was behind the girls and running with a 70 year old man and probably a 40 year old woman. I looked at the garmin and had .5 left to run when the old guy asks me how much longer we have and how long we have been running. So I tell him and he takes off. Yes, a 70 year old man kicked my butt. Then the 40 year old lady next to me kept walking then running and did that over and over again. It was annoying me so when she stopped running again for the millionth time I tried to motivate her and told her that we had .20 left and that she could do it. Can you guess what she did??? She took off and left me. I was just trying to be nice to her and she ended up beating me! :) That's what I get for being nice!

Anywho...pictures from the weekend!
Ben at his first race!
My love...so proud of him!
My brother and I. This crazy man is competing in a full ironman next month!
 The girls!
 Aren't they cute! ;)
I have no idea why this picture looks weird, but my cute little guy cheering us on!

Off they go for 13 miles!
My biggest fans!

Tyler finishing!

My adorable nephew loves me!
He's an iron baby!
Sean finishing 13.1 I have no idea how he did that!

Sean finishing!
We got her up at 5:30 so she was exhausted!
We went and ate IHOP after the race and then us girls took naps while the boys played golf in the ran! When they got back we ran to Hobby Lobby and while we were there they issued a tornado warning for Salina. So we hurried home and watched it from the porch. Ryan is some sort of storm spotter dude so he was telling us what was going on!
Sonya and I during the storm!
If you look right in the middle of the trees you'll see the tornado that was forming on and off. It passed right over us! Just blocks away from Ty and Kayla's house there was a trampoline in a tree and another tree had split and had fallen on a fence. After we saw this, we headed to the basement!
There were a few other tornado warnings that night so we spent some time in the basement! We did leave for a little bit in between warnings for some sushi! ;)

The next day, Sean and I and the kids did some shopping for house things and then ate dinner with Ty, Kay, Nana, Sean's uncle and his wife before heading home!  Even with the craziness of the weather, we had a great weekend and can't wait for our next cousin weekend! :)
