A day for Change

Today has been a LONG day! I think I've had a headache daily from crying :S. We had Grandpa Ray's burial today and it was just what he would have liked. At least that's what Sean and I like to believe. He is buried at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery in Wakeeney. It's a very nice, well kept cemetery. You can tell they take pride in it. Here's a few pics...

Today, as all should probably know, was a huge day for America. A new President Obama (grrr) is now our president. All I have to say is America should have let me vote for everyone and McCain would be our new president! But... he's not. So I must embrace this "Change". We'll see what's in store for the next couple years. And see what kind of history is happening whenever our Baby Jay is born.

Just for fun, here's a pic of my ADORABLE hubby, Sean. Isn't he cute! I took this picture so I could see my reflection in his glasses.

Oh and here's some pictures of family members from Sean's Gpa's funeral on Saturday!

Well that's it folks. I'm HUNGRY and we are eating Goulash and I'm excited! Plus, Sean's making it so it's even better!

SUPER BOWL BOUND!

My boys are headed to Tampa, baby!!! Now I just need like 2 grand so I can get tickets and go to the game! Anyone that wants to make donations is more than welcome!
Yah! I'm so excited! Also, the last time that my boys went to the Super Bowl was when Sean and I saw each other for the first time, again! We met at the Stadium club and our friends set it up so that we'd all hang out! And it's been happily ever after since! Awww!

A bittersweet day

Sean and I had a full day on our hands with a ton of different emotions. We had his gpa's funeral this morning. It was a really nice service and fitted Ray perfectly. Short and sweet, straight to the point. It's still sad he's gone but good to know he's in a better place. I also got to meet Sean's other Uncle Ron and his cousin Alisha and her family. I've been talking to Alisha on facebook for a while now, so I already felt like I knew her! After the service we had a little luncheon with some good food then headed to Sean's Aunt Rochelle's house. We visited for a while then headed to town for this...
Everything looks great and we are right on track. Baby Jay's heartbeat was 160 and nice and strong! He/She was moving it's little arms and legs and we could see it moving around. It was soo incredible!!! It definitely made all this nausea and blah-ness in the past few weeks very much worth it! I can't believe how much it has grown in just over 2 weeks. It measured 2.7 cm, so just over an inch! We could see a little bit of it's spine, some of the umbilical cord, it's huge forehead, it's eyes and mouth. Plus little arms and legs! I'm already completely in love with this baby! Again, I'm completely blessed!!! Oh, and she told me I have a posterior placenta which means I should feel the baby earlier!!! I can't wait!

Kayla, you are completely awesome!!!! We appreciate this more than you know!!!

Oh, after we looked at the baby she showed me other parts in my body. For as fat as I feel right now (thanks bloat) my uterus is only about an inch away from my skin. So that means (in my head) that I'm still fairly skinny :)! I still feel huge right now. I don't fit in maternity clothes yet but my normal clothes don't fit right so it was a struggle this morning. Poor Sean... :) Good thing I get to wear scrubs to work during the week! She also showed me my kidneys, bladder, gall bladder, and told me I had a "beautiful" pancreas! Thanks again Kayla!

Here's a few more pictures...

This picture you kind of have to use your imagination. Baby Jay is looking right at you. You can see it's eyes, the nose bone, and a mouth line! I think it's my favorite picture so far! You can also see their little arm!

This one you can see the arms and legs really well!
Isn't he or she ADORABLE! We are so excited!! :) (If you can't already tell!) We have our next appt with the doctor this Tuesday but I'm not sure if we are goign to be able to make it. We found out Sean's gpa's burial is that day and of course we want to be able to make it. So I'm going to have to reschedule, but hopefully just for later in the day.

Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Cream corn

This is what I'm hungry for RIGHT now... and actually the last 3 days. So I'm having a contest.
The first person to bring me these 3 items for me to eat (and they must be edible!) will win a super-de-duper prize... I'd be excited if I were you.
Ok. Set. Go! HURRY!
Thanks!

9/10 week stats

At my appt today, the nurse convinced me to stick with the August 10th due date. I told her that I know it's not that day, but she said the Doc won't move it unless it's a week and a half or more difference. So August 10th is what I'm moving too... which adds a week which is nice. I also found out my old roommate in college is due the same day as me. Crazy huh?

So here's the 9 week and 10 week stats!

Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like... well... a baby!
With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

I'll do a belly pic soon. Something's going on in there :)

We have a heartbeat

and I could not be more excited!!! It was 156 bpm, nice and strong! The nurse tried for just a few seconds before finding it so that was refreshing. Sean wasn't able to hear it b/c he couldn't get off work. I'm glad he at least got to hear it on the U/S 2 weeks ago. I go back in a week for my 1st doctor visit and this Saturday I should hopefully get another U/S.

Kayla... You rock!

Nothing else to exciting going on. I have satellite clinic tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it AT ALL.
1. I don't do good driving in a car right now. Considering I already feel carsick most of the time, this just makes it worse.
2. My doctor makes us finish charts on the ride back and I get carsick really easy whenever I read/write in the car. So tomorrow is pretty much going to suck.

Well that's it kids! Until next time...

Weekend wrap up

So I really don't have much to blog about today. The weekend has been pretty relaxed with a lot of laying around for me! I haven't felt that great this weekend. I'm starving all the time and if I don't eat every hour I start to feel sick. Here's the problem... NOTHING SOUNDS GOOD. So it's hard to eat every hour when you don't want anything. Oh well... nothing I can't handle. Not much fun, however.
In other baby news, I go on Tuesday to try to hear the heartbeat. We also get the chance to have another u/s on Saturday! I'm already excited.
Oh, and they arranged a funeral for Sean's grandpa for next weekend. It'll be a nice little get together and I'll get to meet some of Sean's family that I have yet to meet.
Sean and I had movie nights this weekend. He rented Gone, Baby, Gone. It's an EXCELLENT movie. Normally I fall asleep during all movies and this one kept me awake. Sean likes to figure out the endings before they happen and he wasn't able to do it to this one. Def. recommended by us!
Well, nothing else to report. I'm watching the Steelers play San Diego and I'm HOPING they win. Pretty sure they will b/c after all, they are the Steelers! And Big Ben..... delicious.
Nuff said.
Big Ben, if you are reading this... Call me :)

ETA: WAY TO GO STEELERS!!! Way to spank the Chargers! Booyah!

Sad news in the Rodger household...

Unfortunately, Sean and I received some sad news last night. Sean's grandpa Ray suddenly passed away last evening. He just celebrated his 79th birthday a few days ago. Although we are all sad about his passing, we know he's in a better place. He was ready to go and had been saying he was ready for a little while, so it looks like he got his birthday wish. As much as we'd love to still have him here, we all know it's for the better. Sean's handling it pretty well, as is the rest of the family for the most part.
We went and said our goodbye's today. He looked peaceful laying there. Luckily, Sean and I got to spend some time with him about 2 weeks ago at the nursing home. We got to share our good news with him and enjoyed the time we spent together.

We'll miss you Ray,
Love,
Sean and Andrea

1st Doc appt

So Sean and I had our first appointment today for "Baby Jay". It was over pretty quickly and just with the nurse. We went over family medical history and the do's and don'ts. I then had to have my blood drawn.

I'll be the first to admit I'm a chicken/baby/etc. So when it comes to drawing blood it's no different. You'd think being a nurse it's something I could handle.
With that said...

I'm going to make a *horrible* patient! :)

We tried to hear a heartbeat but were unsuccessful. It's still pretty early to hear a heartbeat on a Doppler. They are dating me at 9 weeks 2 days today. But I know from the sonogram I'm actually 8 weeks 1 day. They also gave me a due date of Aug 10th. I told them that I ovulated late and know what day it was and she didn't think that he would change the due date since it was only a week different. I'm still sticking with August 18th, however.

Oh, and I go back in a week to check for the heartbeat again. If she can't find it then they are going to order a sonogram. And then Jan 20th I meet with the doctor!!!

So here's my 8 weeks stats. They describe the size of the baby in fruit. This week "Baby Jay" is a raspberry!

Your baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

I'd love it if anyone reading this would keep us in your prayers and pray for a healthy baby and pray we hear a heartbeat next Tuesday! I'm not really nervous since we did hear the heart beat during the sonogram less than a week ago, but it's still a little nerve wracking!!

Thanks!

-Andrea

Oh, also pray for me to get to feeling better. I've come down with some sort of bug. :( I know it's not baby related due to a fever and all the fun things that come with the stomach flu :(

It's been a loonngg while...

But there's an awesome reason why...

Yup, that's right. Sean and I are having a baby. And as long as everything goes well and the baby continues to grow strong, we should be parents mid-August!

We are super excited and feeling so blessed right now! This has been something I've wanted since I was an itty bitty girl and it's hard to believe it's really true!

Sean's cousin's fiance is a ultrasound tech student right now and has offered to practice on me in the next upcoming months! So we are excited to get to see all the changes the baby will be going through! We did this u/s at 7w2d and she said everything looked good. The heartbeat was 136 and we could see little arm and leg bugs and the heart beating. I have some video I'll try to upload soon.

Also, we have nicknamed the baby "Baby Jay" in honor of Sean's beloved Jayhawks... would you expect anything different from him?

I've been feeling pretty good. Just tired and sick to my stomach at times, but nothing I can't handle. This whole food aversion thing is what is kicking my butt!! Tonight I made mac and cheese and Sean made this mexican casserole and I planned on eating his too. But I took one sniff of it, and that was it. Couldn't eat it!

Sean has been such a trooper through my moodiness and not feeling well at times. He's been Mr. Wife and I thank him for all that he's done! :) Love you!

Well, I have my first appointment tomorrow so I'll update then. Hopefully I get back to blogging regularly now if I continue to feel better!

Good night! :)
