Mom's little helper

Little Ly looked super sweet in this Christmas shirt. However, her personality today was anything but. So the pictures were pretty much a fail. Good thing I have 3 more days for Christmas pictures.

Week 7

If you take one look at my hair and non-smile, I'm sure you could figure out why.... I think morning sickness is thinking of making it's presence. It's not horrible yet, but I'm thinking it is on its way. I'm hungry ALL the time to the point I feel sick, and if I eat, then I feel sicker. It's a vicious cycle, yall. But, don't worry, I'll take one for the team! It's way worth it.

Again, the deformed mirror. I feel like I look bigger this week. And one pair of pants are about to go down the drain. At 7 weeks. Oh my. My mom had my SIL Kelci pick up a belly band for me to use and it has been great! I never used one with Lyla and so this has been great. Thank you to the both of you!

Oh, and just yesterday, I had my first inkling of what I think the baby is. I'm going with boy. Not sure why I think this, but that would be my guess.

And with Lyla we were blessed with being able to have quite a few sono's at the beginning of my pregnancy, so we were able to see her grow from a gummy bear to baby. With this baby, I want to do something different. I think what I'm going to do is try all the old wives tales that I can find and see what that says. Just something for fun.

Christmas in Lyla's room

My friend Becca and I made wreaths 2 years ago, and this year it fit in perfect for Lyla's room. Sean is very traditional with his Christmas decorations and I'm not. Not even a little bit. So this wreath fit perfectly on the door to her room.

This is a decoration that either Sean made or his mom made whenever he was a little tot. It's now adorned on her shelf.
And her tree. I loved how it turned out. I actually had some silver mesh to add to it, but never got around to it. Last year her tree was zebra print and this year it is black, silver, pink, and turq. Love it! My favorite part: the curly sticks that are coming out of it!

And that's all that is in her room that is Christmas-y. Simple and sweet and I love it!

Bath time

Courtesy of Mr. Sean Rodger, future photographer! :) Or not!
We trade on and off for baths and when I was going through my pictures the other day, I came across these few he had taken.
She loves bath time for the most part, unless she has to get out. We normally have to bribe her to get out. You know, bribes like she can brush her teeth or she can read a book! Good wholesome bribes! Haha!

As you can tell, not much going on around here. But I do have a little bit of exciting news. Our new couch is coming on Wednesday! We were told it wouldn't be here until after Christmas, so I'm sooo excited! Looks like tomorrow I'll be cleaning some carpets!

Bah-Humbug

I'm in total bah-humbug mode this Christmas. I have no Christmas spirit in me. Sean is actually much more full of holiday cheer.

I wish I was full of holiday cheer because I normally am! So this is totally out of whack for me. I didn't make treats for the neighbors (sorry, neighbors) and I just finished up my Christmas shopping. I still have a few things to make and hopefully I get around to that too!

Other than that, life hasn't been to exciting for us. Lyla and I spent time in GB with my fam and Kevin and Kelci came by for a quick stop. Today we went to church, then I had a photo session and then it was nap time (for me! :) ). And now, after Lyla goes to bed, we are going to watch a movie and finish wrapping presents!

Lazy daisy, are we! :) Maybe next time I'll post something a little more exciting!

Lyla {16 months}

Oh.My. Really? 16 months. Today I was thinking about the day I had her and it really doesn't seem all that long ago.

So what are you up to these days?

-You sure love that thumb...you suck on it constantly.
-You weigh about 20 1/2 lbs and are just about 30 inches tall.
-You are still in size 12 months but I have moved you up to 18 months with some things, esp shirts. You have a big belly, dear!
- Still a great sleeper and have gotten rid of your morning nap now. 12 hours at night, though, now you've started crying once we lay you down and walk out of the room. Doesn't last long, though.
- Still size 3 diapers but in cloth 98% of the time.
- Size 3-4 shoe.
- Whenever football or basketball is on TV you start cheering and put your hands up in the air.

- You are normally a great eater and will eat constantly if we allow it.
- You love, love banana's, cheese, yogurt, sloppy joes, sweet potato fries & fruit snacks. You hardly ever turn down food.
- You still love to blow kisses and say hi to everyone. However, stranger anxiety is at an all time high. Not many people can hold or play with you if you are out of your element or if your mama is around.
-You have no problem getting dressed and like to help us get your clothes on. {Arm through shirts, lifts foot for socks and shoes.} You also like to put your jacket on and try to do it by yourself.

- You and Reese are still bff's. You love to pull her hair, hit her with books, poke her eyes, or play with her teeth. And you love her kisses. You will walk over to her and open your mouth so she'll lick you. Gross, dear.
- You still love to dance and if you hear music you'll start moving.
- When we ask you if you want something, you do this little Chinese head nod mixed with flapping arms. Pretty dang cute.

- You carry around books constantly. But your attention span with reading one doesn't last long at all. Your favorite right now if you Little People Zoo flap book.

-Still don't have much of a vocabulary, but you say hi, bye, puppy, thank you, mama, mommy, dada regularly. We ask you to repeat things and most of the time you try really hard. A few things we can make out {down, duck, papa, get down, no, yes). You can sign more and please.
- The only animal sound you know is that of a monkey!
- You never crawl anymore and can get up without pulling up on something.
-Love your baths and hate to get out. You've also will blow bubbles in the water too.

Happy {16} months, sweet girl! I can't believe in 2 months you'll be 18 months already! Time is going way to fast!!

The goods...

The initial shock of finding out we are pregnant is starting to wear off. Now, its about the planning! :) Oh, I love planning!

I'm 6 weeks 2 days today. And....symptom free so far. I'm tired, but I'm always tired so really that isn't anything new. I made my appt and it is set for Jan 11th. So looking forward to it and looking forward to hopefully hearing a heartbeat. I'm such a worry wart of something things and pregnancy is one of them. I keep thinking something is going to happen or go wrong. Which is NOT the attitude to have. I need to trust that everything will be fine. And it will...

As of right now my due date is 8.9.11. It's be a fun date if he/she actually came on that day. And the he/she part....yes we will be finding out. I'm already thinking in my head that it'll be around the end of March. And yes, again, I have looked to the wise chinese people, and the calendar predicts girl again! Squeal!!! :) I'll be thrilled with a happy, healthy baby boy or girl. But the thought of a girl makes me super excited!! I'd love for Miss Lyla is have a little sister! But a brother for her would be perfect too!

I'll blog next with the story of how I found out and how I told our families! You'll probably get a kick out of how I found out! :)

Praying for a healthy baby!

PSA:Extended Rear facing

One of the things I researched while pregnant with Lyla (and trust, I researched A LOT!) was extended rear facing. This is one thing I knew I wanted to do no matter what. Now, at 16 months, she is still rear-facing and will be til at least 2. I'm in no hurry to turn her around. We have the GracoMyRide 65 and a Britax Decathlon which both are rear-facing til 35 lbs. Now that Lyla is here, it was a much easier decision and really didn't need any researching. All the info about it states that it is safe and not one reliable source says that it isn't. Just the fact that is says it is safer has me sold. And I wish it had everyone else sold, as well. It really saddens me when I know a baby isn't 20 lbs or a year and they are already forwards facing. If parents feel the need to turn them forward at a year then make sure it is 20 lbs AND 1 year! But doesn't the thought of your baby being safer make you want to keep them rear-facing longer?

Here is a video and article about it! (Just click)

And another... (Just click)

This is just my opinion(and the opinion of other ERFing moms) but hopefully it gives someone more info on the subject!

101 in 1001

Have you heard of the 101 in 1001? Well, it's been around for a while and for some reason, I decided I wanted to do it. So I have started my list but I still have a lot to fill out so give me some realistic ideas, pretty please. I'm not feeling creative right now, so I'm not coming up with much.

If you'd like to see my list, click on the 101 in 1001 button at the top of my blog {under the header}. I'm hoping to start it on Jan 1st!

Have you noticed a few of my changes? It's a much cleaner look and I love it! I felt I had a lot of clutter and so I'm glad I got rid of it! Cha-Cha-Changes!

Changes

I'm gonna be changing it up around here. Considering I last updated this blog when Lyla was 2 months old. And well, since she is now just about 16 months, I think an update is due! So hold on, it might not be to pretty for a white!
