Cohen's smash cake

So once upon a time I was a super on top of it mom and managed to capture a smash cake session when Cohen turned 1. Well, technically I was on top of it, but when we went to do it around his 1st birthday he ended up sick and grumpy and so we scratched the smash cake. So I wanted to try to do it for his 18 month birthday! Well for his 19th I managed to finally get some! They are not something I am really proud of because I hurried them and Cohen was sick again and grumpy (yet again) so really these pictures are a true statement of Cohen. Between being chronically sick, we have quite a few grump days at our house. And well, I was sick as I can be with baby 3.0 so I wanted nothing more than to just lay on the couch - which I did shortly after the session. I even let Piper to do the clean up work with the leftover pieces of cake! :)

See - grumpy. He was actually in a good mood because we started these right after he woke up, but I put on the tie and suspenders and he HATED them, hence the grumpy face. Sure love that face though!

I sure do love me a smash cake session though, even with a grumpy bear! And Cohen has quite the sweet tooth, so I think deep down inside he loved this session, just not what his momma made him wear! :)

Lyla's dance recital - may 19th

Lyla had her first year of dance this year and she LOVED it. She is always dancing (and still is!).  When we found out we were having a little girl, the first thing I remember thinking was, I can't wait until she can dance!  So my little dream has come true! And lucky for me, she loves it!

(The pink dress was for her Ariel song)

I don't have a lot of pictures from her first dance because this momma couldn't keep her self together and cried, ugly face cry, sob, you name it, through the whole dance. I honestly don't even remember the dance at all. I was crying before she was even on the stage!  Then I had Sean next to me, laughing at me, which made things worse!

Her jazz dance was her favorite dance (mine too) to the song All about me.

Daddy got her some flowers to celebrate!

Our little dancer!  We left Cohen with his aunt and uncle as I knew he wouldn't sit still for 2 hours so we were all able to enjoy the recital instead of trying to keep him quiet!

Mothers' day 2013

I had such a great Mother's Day! We started off the day with church and our nephew Hoyt, got dedicated! After lunch to celebrate, our family, my parents and Sean's mom and Nana all met up and we drove to the Rolling Hill Zoo for a day together!

They have a new penguin exhibit and I was SUPER excited to go. Unfortunately it was a bit of a let down with 4 penguins in about a 8 foot encloser.

The kiddos favorite part (and mine too) was the petting zoo part! The kiddos loved getting to feed the animals (me too)!

This is what happens when a random person takes your picture and doesn't know how to work the camera. A off centered picture! :)

Lyla said her favorite animal was the giraffe and I'm still disappointed we haven't been able to feed them! Every time we go, they don't have the feeding station open!

All the moms and kiddos! :)

After the zoo, we met up Ty and Kayla in Salina and took our parents to the Hibachi grill (my favorite place to eat in Salina). It is such a fun place to eat!

So to sum it up, I had a wonderful mothers' day! And I actually felt good and wasn't puking so all was good! :)

Lyla's last day of preschool

May 24th was Lyla's last day of her first year of preschool! She LOVED school all year long and already asks when she can go back.  She won't be going next year and then will start her first real year of preschool the following when she is 5. After advice from others and our own gut feelings, we decided to hold her back one year!

A comparison - She got SO big!

The second semester we took another little girl from Victoria and they became good friends!

I brought some cupcakes and they also had a yogurt bar to finish off the year!

Lyla's class (minus a few) and her teacher!
She loved her teacher, Mrs. Cornelson and we did too! Lyla did so well this year and we are super proud of her!

Cohen got to have a little fun with the class too! After class I took the kiddos to McD's to eat and play!

And in a flash went Lyla's first school year! Tear!!  We are blessed with a very good and smart little cookie!

It's a...

GIRL!! :) And we are all so excited! Especially Miss Lyla who said she won't wanted a sister!

A friend of ours came over and took these for us real quick! Cohen's attention span is minus 2 minutes so I knew he wouldn't pay attention. Plus he loves balloons, so when he saw them, he was only about those!

I got the box at Home Depot - took it to Party Mart and they filled it will balloons. Love how it turned out but I do wish the balloons would have come out a little better! Once I got home Lyla and I painted the front white and then a chalkboard paint heart!

 A very happy big sister!
At our appt that day (I was 20.1) we gave a card to our sono tech you circled what it was.  I've always been pretty certain that I thought I was having a girl. This pregnancy is identical to Lyla's.  Sean said afterwards he was a teeny bit sad he didn't get another boy but it equally thrilled to have another daddys' girl!
Cohen has no opinion! He wore blue for the shoot because it is the only color he can say! :)

We are super excited that a little girl will be completing our family! She doesn't have a name yet and might have to keep the moniker baby jay 3.0 because Sean and I can't agree! And yes, the shopping for this little girl has also begun! :)
